Yellow diamond ring expected to sell for more than $100,000 at auction

A 10.02-carat fancy intense yellow diamond ring is expected to sell for more than $100,000 when it is put up for auction in Dallas on December 5.

 

The ring, which features white diamonds flanking the cut-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut fancy intense yellow centre stone, is from the Property of an Arkansas estate in the United States.

 

Other highlights of the sale by Heritage Auctions include a platinum ring set with a square modified brilliant-cut diamond weighing 9.02 carats, and a diamond, gold jewellery suite, featuring more than 100 carats in diamonds which is expected to sell for $80,000 or more.

 

The auction also features items from the jewellery collection of Gladys Glad who was one of the highest paid showgirls on Broadway in the 1920s and early 1930s,. She rose to fame as the most celebrated of Florenz Ziegfeld's renowned "Ziegfeld Follies Girls".

 

One of the main highlights is Glad's retro diamond, ruby, platinum, gold jewellery suite by Merrin of New York, estimated to sell for more than $15,000. The lot includes the original artwork for the earring design.

 

"This collection represents wonderful mid-century jewelry design," said Jill Burgum, Director of Fine Jewelry at Heritage. "It's a great chance to own a piece of Broadway theater history from a woman once voted 'most beautiful woman in the world.'"

 

There are also ruby, diamond, and platinum earrings by Van Cleef & Arpels, circa 1960, which feature oval-shaped ruby cabochons weighing a total of approximately 12.00 carats, enhanced by full-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 10.00 carats, set in platinum.
