Philadelphia jeweller produces non-engagement ring for Tiger’s mistress
March 11, 2010
Opportunity, they say is the mother of invention; so evidently is one man’s misfortune another’s good fortune. Philadelphia jeweller Steven Singer took this to heart when he created a “non-engagement” ring, which was awarded in a bizarre beauty contest to one of the 13 alleged mistresses of golfer Tiger Woods.
The first non-engagement ring was awarded on March 10 on the popular radio talk show of Howard Stern. It should be noted only three of the alleged mistresses participated in the contest, which was hosted by Stern and sponsored by a discreet dating website, AshleyMadison.com.
The first place winner was Jamie Jungers, who left the studio with a check for $75,000 from AshleyMadison.com. But the cash prize was not enough, so Singer was called in.
The ring is very different from most engagement rings. Its centre stone is a three-carat total weight black diamond.
Singer has keen sense for the U.S. media. He has long standing partnership with the Howard Stern Show and has also made appearances on national television such as "The Dr. Phil Show.”
